Taking inspiration from the 20th century world fairs which explored new worlds and new futures, this year’s Millennium Gallery exhibition is a space in which immersive technology, art and research collide. The exhibition, produced in partnership with Crossover Labs, showcases the University of Sheffield’s research and collaborations with the region’s creative community. The artworks and exhibits explore ecology, the environment, human health and wellbeing, industrial heritage, future energy, quantum science, space and much more.
Our project:
Space Glaciers!
Deciphering the history of ice ages on Mars Capturing the icy wonders of the Red Planet, Space Glaciers! is a striking metal sculpture by silversmith Holly Clifford.
The piece translates the scientific research of Dr Frances Butcher, who utilises satellite imagery and surface elevation data to decipher the rich glacial and climate history of Mars.
Space Glaciers! is situated in the Millennium Gallery foyer, outside Ambulo café.
