sheffield contour map

The city of seven hills, an area with ideal dramatic topography for creating a contour map!

Bordering the Peak District to the West of the settlement, this old industrial city is formed of many hills and valleys encasing streams and rivers all flowing East.

The map itself is made from brass, which has been blackened and slightly rubbed back in places to reveal a warm golden glow. It features the accurate topography of the city, using contours at 40m intervals.

The map covers Sheffield and the region, spanning from Dronfield to the South, and Chapeltown to the North, with Stanage Edge to the West and Treeton to the East.

All the reservoirs are cut-out, making them handy location markers. The five rivers are painted onto the brass using an oxidising solution, providing a striking contrast with the golden hue of the metal.

Keep things minimal with a plain map, or make your map tell your story, by choosing from a range of different personalisation options:

  • Mark favourite walking/running/biking/climbing trails

  • Use silver, gold or stones to highlight particular locations, like home, work, a favourite cafe or restaurant or other spot(s) that means something to you.

  • Engrave writing into the map, like coordinates, place names, dates, initials or messages.

Map Finish

Choose between a blackened map on white background, or satin golden (brass) map on a black background.

The map comes beautifully framed in a choice of white or black with Art Glass (non-reflective, dust-repellent), making it easy to gift or hang without hassle.
