Hathersage Contour Map Wall Piece

Home is a very special place to P, she loves watching the rolling hills change with the seasons from the windows of her flat, in the historic village of Hathersage in rural Derybshire. Having seen some of my older works created in copper with a heat treated finish, she was interested in bringing some of those colours into her map. We decided to hand cut copper sections to highlight the area the village physically covers and rivetting these pieces on, preserving their delicate surfaces. 18ct yellow gold markers are used to pin-point home and all the main high points she can see from her vantage point. The Derwent River and Hood Brook are hand engraved and painted with a blackening solution, contrasting well with the brass.
