Muckle Roe Lighthouse Dish
Thanks to the South House Silver Workshop Trust, I was able to spend the entire month of October tucked away in Shetland (specifically the isle of Muckle Roe), learning & practicing the art of chasing & repoussé under the tutelage of silversmith Rod Kelly.
It is so rare to be able to give yourself the time to play/experiment and learn. We spent most of our days in the workshop, even heading back after dinner for more hours tapping away; shaping, adjusting, refining. I sunk hours into this special 'test' piece, inspired by the wild & wonderful rock I called home for the month. This process allows me to take my contour work down a completely new path, and I'm very excited by the different doors it could open...
